11. Blue Lake
Habitat: Blue Lake is a high elevation mountain lake surrounded by ponderosa pine and white fir; most of these stands were severely impacted during the Blue Fire of 2001, however provide an incredible array of early shrub and tree habitat intertwined with fingers of unburned later seral conifer stands. Aspen/willow patches and meadow riparian vegetation flank the lake on the eastern and southern edges. A trail, a portion of which is accessible, encircles the lake.
Birds: Mountain Bluebird, Osprey, Northern Goshawk
Directions: From Likely turn E. 9.3 mi on FS 64 to the Y intersection. Go southeast on Rd 258 for 6 mi. Go south on the Blue Lake Access Road for 1.5 mi to the Campground.
