12. Bluedoor Flat Reservoir
Habitat: A large reservoir and meadow system provides water for the birding site, including a seasonal creek that forms a shallow marsh, reservoir, and meadow complex surrounded by a dry environment. Bonus point number one refers to the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed the reservoir dam in 1937 and all rock on the dam was hand placed. Bonus point two refers to a great watchable wildflower site on the large meadows, and you will probably have this great spring-time viewing site to yourself.
Birds: American Avocets, Willets, Red-tailed Hawk
Directions: From Madeline, take Lassen Co Rd 510 E. 8 mi; the site is on the S. (R) side of the Rd.
