2. Modoc National Wildlife Refuge, Dorris Reservoir
Habitat: Surrounded by sagebrush uplands and small pockets of shallow wetlands, the seasonally fluctuating reservoir provides a diverse habitat for many birds throughout the year. Two entrance roads, including boat ramps, provide access to the lake.
Birds: Forester's Tern, Canada Geese, Greater Sandhill Cranes
Directions: From Alturas take Co Rd 56 E. for 2.5 mi. Turn S. (R) on Co Rd 57, travel S. for 0.1 mi to entrance on E. (L) side of the Rd.
